The idea behind this project is fuelled by my curiosity with all the plants that I pass on a daily basis, and educating myself (with the help of many a second hand botany book) on the plant life that I come into contact with.

Kathleen Drew Baker aka. Mother of the Sea for a 2 colour Risograph print, as part of a self initiated project about pioneering women.
Co-founder & 1st president of the Algae study society. She studied botany at Manchester university, graduating in 1921, then went on to study seaweed for a further 2 years. She had a ground breaking discovery with Nori, and found a way to naturally & safely farm nori and other health benefits of edible seaweed. Scientists in japan found out about her studies & since 1960, each year on the 14th of April there is a celebration for this wonderful seaweed lady.
